PRE-SERVICE FOSTER PARENT TRAINING
Pre-Service Foster Parent Training Schedule – 2022
Wayne County Children Services is committed to providing high quality training for prospective foster and adoptive parents. All trainers are certified by the State of Ohio and possess the knowledge, experience and skills to teach and guide prospective foster and adoptive parents.
Prospective Foster and Adoptive parents are required to attend 36 hours of Pre-Service Training plus WCCS requires 3 hours of WCCS Agency Related Information Training. All training must be completed before the home study process can begin. Pre-Service and WCCS Agency Related Information training are all held at Wayne County Children Services located at 2534 Burbank Road. ALL spouses or co-parents are required to attend training.
Pre-Service training is interactive and will cover a variety of parenting topics that will assist you with parenting children who come from situations of abuse and neglect. Some of the topics offered include:
- Overall orientation to the Agency and to Fostering and Adopting
- The Effects of Child Abuse and Neglect on Children
- Managing Behavior – De-Escalating a crisis
- Cultural Issues
- Understanding Family
- Children who have been Sexually Abused
