TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS ‘MAKE A WISH’ PROGRAM

Our Traditional Christmas ‘Make a Wish’ program is designed to assist children and/or families during the holiday season.

Who is eligible?

Any child receiving assistance from Wayne County Children Services Board whose family has a financial need or circumstantial hardship.

What is a Sponsor?

Our Christmas ‘Make a Wish’ program would not be a reality without the generosity of numerous sponsors (made up of corporations, individuals and groups) who make hundreds of “wishes” come true and each year there are more children with wishes to be filled.

Wayne County Children Services confidentially matches a child with a community sponsor.  The sponsor is given the first name and age of a child, along with clothing sizes and the child’s “wishes”.  We typically ask sponsors to spend between $100-150 per child.  Once a child is enrolled in our Christmas program, they are no longer eligible for any other Christmas program in the area.  All items purchased for the child must be brand new.  We then have “Delivery Days” for the sponsors to bring their gifts back to the agency.

How do I become a Sponsor?

If you would like to sponsor a child, simply complete the inquiry form below or contact Lisa Kopczinsky, Volunteer Coordinator, to be placed on the list to receive a child’s name and wishes.

Sponsors typically get their list the week prior to Thanksgiving to allow ample time to shop.

How can I make a donation?

Monetary contributions, gift cards and “filler gifts” are also gratefully accepted to assist with last minute needs of children that come into care closer to the holiday, emergency cases and/or special needs of a child.
