JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, based on referrals from CSB
staff, assess needs of clients, and assist them in housecleaning, instruct them
in proper methods of cleaning, and provide instructions in other areas such as
head lice, laundry, infant care, personal care, food preparation, shopping /
food storage, reinforcement of home and time management, and instruction on
maintenance of clean, safe home environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED; ability to
communicate effectively in written or oral form; valid State of Ohio Driver's
license with safe driving record; ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.; able to
work flexible schedule based on clients' availability; basic math aptitude;
basic medical / hygiene knowledge preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of department policies and procedures*;
safety practices and procedures; office practices and procedures. Ability
to cajole and motivate clients; ability to follow written and oral instructions;
maintain accurate records; deal with problems involving few variables in
familiar context; recognize unusual or threatening conditions; maintain good
working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and clients; plan, schedule,
and organize work, identify and use existing community resources; perform
clerical duties. Must own, lease, or have immediate access to safe and
reliable (per State Highway Patrol standards) personal transportation to use for
work related responsibilities, including the transportation of children and / or
adults.

DUTIES:
CLIENT ASSISTANCE
 | Upon referral from CSB caseworker, assess client
home for client's level of need for: instructions on
housecleaning, head lice, laundry, infant care, personal care, food
preparation, shopping / food storage, etc. |
 | Set up schedule of work visits to client home |
 | Instruct client while assisting in cleaning on
proper methods to keep home clean; reinforce as needed |
 | Assist client in organizing closets, drawers and
cupboards; assist client in procurement of necessary bins, hangers, etc. |
 | Instruct client in child proofing methods to make
the home safe for children |
 | Assist client in treatment / prevention of head
lice; assist client in procurement of necessary supplies |
 | Assist client with meal planning and food
shopping; when shopping, assist in budgeting and finding ways to make
food dollars and food stamps stretch. |
 | Become familiar with community resources so that
clients with particular needs can be referred. |
 | Ability to be tolerant: to enter
substandard housing and endure a variety of smells |
 | Respect client's rights and those of their
children |
ADMINISTRATION
 | Complete dictation timely and accurately
|
 | Complete mileage and time sheets accurately and
timely |
 | Work with assistant prosecuting attorney, attend
hearings, and provide testimony when required. |
