* New information regarding Closet of Hope donations * It is imperative that the Closet of Hope function to serve those children who have just come into a foster care placement. The first three days of placement are usually the most crucial, as the child does not have many or sometimes ANY clothing or hygienic items. The best way to serve our children’s needs is to make sure that there are gently used or new and most importantly practical, “school appropriate” clothing items. This type of clothing will best serve the foster child population and will ensure that the child is able to be appropriately outfitted for school. Henceforth, a new policy has been put into place regarding donations for the Closet of Hope. If you are interested in donating to the Closet of Hope, please be sure to contact Jackie Wynn, Volunteer Coordinator at 330-345-5340 or wynnj01@odjfs.state.oh.us or Bethany Sherrieb, Prevention Services Supervisor at 330-345-5340 or sherrb@odjfs.state.oh.us. No donations will be accepted without prior approval. Please understand that this policy is to assist in serving the most pertinent needs of our foster children. We sincerely appreciate your willingness to help aid and support the children of Wayne County.
